Harry Roldán Pinedo Valera – "Inin Metsa" (Fragrant Leaves)
Harry Pinedo is a Shipibo visual artist and intercultural educator from Ucayali, Peru. Since migrating to Lima in 1995, he has been an active member of the Shipibo urban community in Cantagallo, exploring themes of migration, indigenous identity, and ecological awareness in his work. His art blends kené designs with storytelling, depicting Amazonian myths and legends.
His work has been exhibited internationally in Brazil, Germany, France, England, and Spain, including at the University of Essex and ARCO Madrid. He has also illustrated Amazonian children’s books, such as Churi, which won the "El Barco de Vapor" literary award.
This painting was previously exhibited at Pinta Miami 2024 as part of the special project To Paint the Forest Beings, curated by Irene Gelfman and Giuliana Vidarte. The exhibition celebrated indigenous art as a vital expression of Latin America’s collective identity, inviting viewers to engage in an intercultural dialogue that bridges past, present, and future.
